VINDEMIA XXI

Vindemia is a new cuvée, introduced by 9th generation siblings Edgar and Louise Coulon after they have worked for ten years alongside their parents in this family farm which dates back to 1806.

The new wine is a blend of Meunier (60%) and Chardonnay (40%) from Vrigny, a Premier Cru village on the Montagne de Reims with east- and south-east-facing slopes providing excellent sunshine and promoting optimal grape ripening. The plots rest on a bedrock of sand, clay, and chalk.

The vineyard is managed using organic viticulture and agroforestry practices based on observation, understanding, and respect for natural balances. The soils are maintained with a permanent plant cover composed of diverse native plants. In the vineyard, the work is minimally interventionist: short pruning, yield control, all while respecting the biotope.

The juice form the press goes directly into barrel, and spontaneous fermentation follows, with native yeasts from the locality, and natural malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged on the whole lees for 11 months in barrels. The wine-wood-lees ratio promotes the wine's complexity and roundness.

It is allowed to clarify naturally, without fining or filtration, to preserve aromatic integrity before bottling. The second fermentation is controlled with pressure limited to 4-4.5 atmospheres, like all their other cuvées.

This vintage blend is based on the 2021 vintage, supplemented with reserve wines from 2020. and has been aged a further 36 months in the Domaine's underground cellars in bottle before release with zero dosage.

Vindemia reveals a golden colour with delicate bubbles, a refined nose blending white flowers, citrus, and fresh fruit, enhanced with hints of hazelnut and brioche. On the palate, the attack is straightforward and mineral, carried by the tension of our Meunier that year and the finesse of the Chardonnay. The finish, saline and spicy, prolongs the tasting. As an aperitif, Vindemia pairs perfectly with seafood or gourmet tapas. Winemaker's notes (Sept 2025)
