Northern Rhône - Primeur Offer
Supple purity in the 2016s, relaxed velvety ripeness in the 2017s
This year we have decided to offer the northern Rhônes now, in anticipation of Spring drinking for the whites and before the fabulous reds reach the shop shelves and sell out. We will offer the Southern Rhône in the early autumn. This year it was Derek Robertson who attended the Salon d'Ampuis and visited many of the Northern Rhone growers in their cellars as well - his report is here.
Whether you have historically been a fan of the Rhône or not, this offer deserves your attention. These are some of France’s finest wines and from two critically-acclaimed vintages. Many of these are available for less than £30 a bottle in-bond – you won’t find much in Burgundy or Bordeaux that even gets close to matching this for quality and value.

Arrival in the UKThe wines will arrive in the UK by this Autumn (2019). This is an opportunity to secure the wines at the lowest possible price before they reach the general market. We guarantee you will find some exciting options for your cellar.
‘The best examples (of 2017 Northern Rhone Syrahs) capture all the fragrance of the variety alongside immaculate black fruit and structure that should age handsomely.’
Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com
‘2016 is a terrific vintage for the Northern Rhône. The wines shine for their purity, elegance, and balance, while still possessing good concentration and depth of fruit'...'In contrast, 2017 was a scorching hot, early vintage and the wines are ripe, sexy, and flamboyant, with open-knit, approachable profiles... Qualitatively, the wines are on a similar level to the 2016s, if not superior, and which you prefer will be mostly driven by personal preferences.'
