LA PETITE ÉGLISE

2006 Pomerol

Colour Red
Origin France, Bordeaux
Sub-district Pomerol & Lalande de Pomerol
Village Pomerol
ABV 13%

Very ripe, floral and curranty, rich. Good toasty middle. Possibly a little cooked tasting, and a slightly burnt finish, but very attractive. Denis Durantou explained that this is all from the property, and that he has stopped renting the vines that he used to add in. "it shows that it is possible to have a properly ripe wine in 2006, with very Pomerol aromas of pain grillé and violet". Rating: 88 L&S (Apr 2007)

A good wine from one of the most successful regions in 2006 - may need keeping a little longer than usual, but good Pomerols at this price are rare- post price-release comment (May 2007)

100% Merlot from gravely clay soils. Mid crimson. Quite opulent on the nose though a firm spine. Chewy. Then very sandy dry tannins on the finish. Far from charming. Very dry and severe in fact. Austere though quite persistent finish. 2011-16 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Apr 2007)
