A cooler feel - fresh herbs and sappy green fruit. Taut, mineral and tense, very linear and direct, needs time to evolve. L&S (Dec 2008)

Mild, but not invisible, wood toast serves as a backdrop for the anise, acacia blossom and lemon/lime aromas that give way to rich, round and relatively generous middle weight flavors that possess better focus and precision on the delicious, linear and lingering finish. Solid if not special. 2012+ Rating: 89-89 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com(Jun 2009)

Drink 2010-16 A whiff of smoke, then very very crisp acidity, quite marked. There’s a breadth and creaminess on the palate but I find the acidity dominates at the moment, hence the minus. Rating: 17 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com(Jan 2009)

Pale, bright yellow. Musky aromas of elderberry, hazelnut and spices, with high-pitched nuances of mint, violet and crushed stone. Ripe and generous, with strong soil character to the flavors of peach, citrus peel and saline minerality. Plenty of palate-coating volume here, but the finish impresses most with its vibrant minerality. Seems fresher and more minerally than the sample I tasted from barrel a year ago. Rating: 91-91 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar(Jan 2009)

Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot

Jean-Marc Boillot left the family domaine to be winemaker to Olivier Leflaive for five years. Then from his maternal grandfather Étienne Sauzet he inherited much of the vineyard of the old Domaine Sauzet, in some of the best vineyards of Puligny, and with this holding and others from his paternal side, he set up his own business. He makes wines that show well young, with complex exotic fruit aromas with the core of minerality, but they age well too. His daughter Lydie and son are now taking a more active role in the domaine, and they have branched out with a thriving négociant business and a property near the Pic Saint Loup in the Languedoc - Domaine des Roques.
