LE DIX

2010 Los Vascos

Grapes Cab Sauv
Colour Red
Origin Chile
ABV 14%

In commemoration of 10 years of DBR (Lafite)’s work in Chile, the exceptional quality of some of the cuvées led to the selection of an exceptional wine. Le Dix de Los Vascos originates from 70-year-old vines located in the parcel known as “El Fraile”, and is aged in new French oak barrels. It is only produced in very limited quantities, depending on the concentration and the finesse of the vintage (there was no “Le Dix” in 1998 or in 2005). L&S (Oct 2012)

For price and quality, Le Dix 2010 takes things to a high level. The nose on this Cabernet-led blend is full of violet, lilac, cassis and mild oak. The palate is multilayered and has a complex feel to it, while flavors of baked berry, cassis, coffee and marzipan finish with size and length. This is one of the most balanced and complete versions of Le Dix to date. Rating: 93 Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast Magazine (Sep 2013)

85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Carmenère, 5% Syrah. The climate for the harvest 2010, showed a low level of precipitations during the rain season and a cooler spring. The harvest progressed smoothly, even though the grapes for Le Dix started to be handpicked a little over a month after the earthquake and two weeks later as compared to the previous season. The yield was slightly lower mostly because the berries were smaller but with excellent concentration. The prevailing conditions allowed the grapes to attain remarkable fruity expression.
