Some definite age, even a hint of decay, on the nose. One of those damn-you wines for which Deiss is famous. I don't think I'd spend my own money on such an advanced wine, but would love someone else to pour it for me in 10 years time so I can see whether it has blossomed. Drinking range: 2014 - 2030 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - (Sep 2016)

Aromas of lemons and wax in this white. Full body, firm acidity and a long finish. Lots of fruit here. A blend of grape varieties from the region. Drink now. Rating: 92 James Suckling, (Sep 2015)

Field blend of which 70% is Riesling. Ripe, exotic, expressive, convincing. The higher percentage of Riesling (compared with their other cuvées) is working well here, giving good definition. 2015-2018 Rating: 16.5 Richard Hemming - (Sep 2014)

Fresh peach and citrus lusciously inform the Deiss 2010 Schoenenbourg, whose creamy texture and honeyed richness, are matched by vivacious juiciness. White pepper, chalk, quinine, and shimmering mineral matter offer invigoration and counterpoint in a sustained and dynamically complex finish. The sweetness here is supportive without remotely getting the upper hand, so that I can well imagine over the 20-25 years during which this beauty will deserve to be admired, its versatility at table will vary inversely with a diminishing sense of sweetness. Rating: 94-94 David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate (Sep 2014)

Bright straw-green. Spicy aromas of lime, honeyed peach, anise and quinine. Dense on entry, then spicy and vibrant in the middle, displaying juicy, fresh flavors of peach, flowers and earth. This structured, very long wine magically combines an impression of strong extract and a weightless quality. Very impressive. Rating: 94+ Ian d'Agata, (Nov 2012)

Domaine Marcel Deiss

Jean-Michel Deiss's wines are without doubt among the most exciting of the region. His experimental field blends in the wines he likes to call 'level of Premier Cru' are immensely impressive and worth experimenting with - they each have a definite and unique character, and are some of the most fascinating white wines in the world. Deiss may be a contrary character himself, not always in tune with other producers in the area, but the quality in the wines really does speak for what he has achieved. Biodynamic.
