The 2012 is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, from 20 Grands and Premier crus vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. It has been aged for seven years in the cellar before being disgorged. It’s full of peaches and cream, racy and elegant, with amazing freshness and an unbelievable finish. It is drinking superbly now, but will last the distance. Another great classic from Pol Roger. Sarah Kemp, The Wine Conversation (Dec 2020)

*Case price discount: Mix any 12 bottles (or 9l equivalent) of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits, Sweet Wine or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.

Disgorged in March 2017, the 2012 Brut Blanc de Blancs is excellent, delivering a complex bouquet of warm pastry, dried white flowers, lemon oil and some smoky, gently reductive top notes. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a rich but precise core of fruit that reveals all the concentration of the vintage but is elegantly rendered, underpinned by tangy acids and concluding with a precise, chalky finish. Drinking range: 2020 - 2040 Rating: 94 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Nov 2020)

Champagne Pol Roger

Champagne Pol Roger is one of the very few remaining houses still owned and run by the founding family, who remain responsible for the winemaking and selection of the cuvées each year.
Originally founded in Aÿ in 1849 by Pol Roger, the firm then moved to Épernay in 1851. The First World War had a huge impact on the firm, putting any expansion plans to rest, and Prohibition in America made exports much more difficult.
During the Second World War when the Germans occupied France, all production and buying of Champagne was controlled by the Wehrmacht.
However, the War caused Winston Churchill to become a prominent figurehead throughout the world, and his love of Pol Roger was widely known. So much so that the House created their special Cuvée Winston Churchill in 1975.
