Tighter and more mineral than the Referts, a hard stone character - a Chablis-like firmness for a Puligny, yet with an exotic side to the fruit too. Lovely pure cool length. Drinking range: 2016 - 2022 L&S (Nov 2014)

Pale yellow. Complex aromas of apple, lemon and spiced pear, lifted by a hint of exotic fruits that suggests a bit of noble rot. Rich, musky and plush, offering lovely concentration and an impression of sweetness and strong extract. The tiny crop of 25 hectoliters per hectare yielded a wine with a very high 13.6% natural alcohol. Plush, even thick, for the vintage. Drinking range: 2018 - 2025 Rating: 92 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Sep 2015)

Delicious aromas of dried fruit and stony fruit, very ripe on the palate but a lovely minerality and a citrus fruit finish, excellent definition Drinking range: 2016 - 2024 Rating: 93 Gerard Basset OBE MW MS, Decanter (Feb 2015)

Quite a rich start and full of intense fruit. I would posit that the village Puligny is much better value. Just a little overblown. Drink 2018-2025 Drinking range: 2018 - 2025 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2015)

Nicely stony/dusty on the nose with delicate citrus and lime leaf (linden/tilleul). Fragrant without shouting. Tastes sweet (though it is dry) and a little buttery on the palate, counterbalancing the crisp acidity. On the finish there's the hard-candy effect of sweet and tart combined but plenty of flavour and more depth than many in this vintage. Drinking range: 2017 - 2021 Rating: 16 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2015)

Apple, ripe citrus, plenty of depth and flesh. More complete than their Les Referts, though still staunchly savoury and therefore quite austere. Rating: 16.5 Richard Hemming - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2015)

Exuberant aromas of exotic fruits. Concentrated and dense, with a distinct impression of sucrosite leavened by strong acidity; the exotic fruit character carries through on the palate. Tactile, saline wine from a small crop. A step up in length from the foregoing samples, finishing with metallic and salty mineral nuances. Rating: 89-92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Sep 2014)

Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot

Jean-Marc Boillot left the family domaine to be winemaker to Olivier Leflaive for five years. Then from his maternal grandfather Étienne Sauzet he inherited much of the vineyard of the old Domaine Sauzet, in some of the best vineyards of Puligny, and with this holding and others from his paternal side, he set up his own business. He makes wines that show well young, with complex exotic fruit aromas with the core of minerality, but they age well too. His daughter Lydie and son are now taking a more active role in the domaine, and they have branched out with a thriving négociant business and a property near the Pic Saint Loup in the Languedoc - Domaine des Roques.
