Lovely aromatic nose, almost surprisingly 'lifted' after the feral blackness of the Mazoyères. Red fruit, spice and mineral. A big wine with lots of tannin and weight, and while not having the black force of the Mazoyères, it has a regal class, authority and length. Grown-up stuff. Still quite tight, but also expressive and fun. Drinking range: 2025 - L&S (Nov 2015)

This stylish red combines sweet, ripe berry and cherry fruit with subtle spices, wrapped in a frame of integrated oak and sophisticated tannins. The vibrant acidity lends focus, marshaling the long, spice-filled aftertaste. Shows plenty of tension, but all the components are here. Best from 2022 through 2045. Drinking range: 2022 - 2045 Rating: 96 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (May 2017)

Bright, dark red. Much more closed on the nose than the Mazoyères-Chambertin, offering aromas of dried rose petal and smoky minerality. Less demonstrative on the palate as well, but aeration brings up wonderfully intense, penetrating flavors of red berries, brown spices, peony, pepper and smoky minerality. Conveys a powerful impression of dry extract in a very silky, subtly sweet package. Finishes very long, with noble tannins, repeating red fruits and a vibrant spiciness that perks up the salivary glands. This knockout wine is fresher in bottle that it was from barrel in late 2015, when it was more dominated by lower-toned soil components. Drinking range: 2025 - 2037 Rating: 96 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Mar 2017)

This really makes you take notice! Satin texture and very savoury. Grapes have to be fresh. Very exciting, even explosive. Very cool but concentrated. Very long indeed. Drinking range: 2022 - 2045 Rating: 18+ Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2016)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
