2015 Kalkstein Weingut Braunewell
Delicious, full-throttle, Rheinhessen Riesling with masses of zesty lime twist and green apple crunch. Jane MacQuitty, The Times (Jul 2017)

François Breiniville fled 17th Century France's Huguenot persecution to settle in Essenheim, just south west of Mainz. It took until the 1960's for Adam Braunewell to start bottling the wines from his family's vineyards and, today, he helps his children and grandchildren run this excellent estate and tend their flagship vineyards of Blume and Teufelspfad (the Devil's path!)
We rated the previous vintage of this elegant dry Riesling 90 points and this latest release may well reach the same level with three to six more months in the bottle for its citrusy aromatics and spritz fresh peachy fruit whose limey trail of acidity leaves a refreshingly dry, summer taste in the mouth. Like its predecessor, this one also has legs. Rating: 89 www.thewinegang.com (Jun 2017)
