Intense fruit hit opens up this with a loud noise. Great weight of riper red berries, ripe raspberry and some delicious strawberry too. More burly, more breadth, yet again this is very straight, with good focus. Not weighty or heavy. Just pure and powerful with beautifully ripened fruit and incredibly fine, delicate tannins. Long finish of beautiful, gourmand fruit. L&S (Oct 2017)

The 2016 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru is showing some stem addition on the nose, and it works well: complex and very terroir-driven with endearing sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, good acidity, classic in style with hints of tobacco and white pepper towards the fresh and persistent finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. Drinking range: 2022 - 2048 Rating: 93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Oct 2019)

Cask sample. Lifted, aromatic nose with eucalypt, stemmy herbal aromas and well-defined red fruit. Long and intense on the palate – great substance and intensity. Long, impressive finish with a saline mineral quality. Drinking range: 2024 - 2044 Rating: 18 Richard Hemming MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Feb 2018)

Dark, bright, saturated red. Sexy resiny spices and a hint of orange zest lift the wine's youthfully unforthcoming dark fruit aromas. Subtly complex but a bit unforthcoming, with its sweet, rich dark berry and spice flavors cut by savory minerality. A distinctly deeper style than the Charmes-Chambertin, showing more earth, spice and iron-like rare steak notes and finishing with greater grip. The Charmes is ethereal by comparison to this big boy, which finishes with a serious tannic structure and salty minerality. Rating: 93-95 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2018)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
