2016 1er Cru La Pucelle Domaine Paul et Marie Jacqueson

Grapes Chardonnay
Colour White
Origin France, Burgundy
District Côte Chalonnaise
Village Rully
Classification 1er Cru
Vineyard La Pucelle

Tasted after just 2 days in bottle. More cream than the village wine, more ripeness. Wood really well tucked in. Great feel, broad, ripe fruit - nice weight of fruit - but still good shape - nice bright lines. Detailed. Good impact and flows on beyond with a nice bright kick. Mostly Calcaire with 30% Clay. Focus and purity - but not slight. L&S (Dec 2017)

Currently out of stock in our warehouse.

Alternatively we may well have some bottles in one of our shops - why not give one of them a call?

A classy white, the 2016 Rully 1er Cru La Pucelle offers up aromas of white currants, fresh peaches and dried flowers, framed by a subtle top note of caramel. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, supple and glossy, with an elegant, open-knit profile and a clean finish. It's best adapted to near-term consumption and represents a safe choice on a restaurant wine list. Drinking range: 2018 - 2021 Rating: 89 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jul 2018)

Fresh apple fruit with generous oak spice coming through on the palate. Unsubtle, but full of flavour and richness, with long dairy persistence Drinking range: 2017 - 2021 Rating: 16.5 Richard Hemming MW - (Jan 2018)

I will start with a wine which looks superb in this vintage and which will not trouble the bank account. 2016 Rully, 1er Cru La Pucelle, Domaine Paul et Marie Jacqueson was a refreshing, chiselled, bright Chardonnay with ample lust for life and precocity making it a banker for everyone’s fridge door. Matthew Jukes (Jan 2018)

Domaine Paul et Marie Jacqueson

The adventurous and sportif Paul Jacqueson has been at the head of this domaine for many years - but now his daughter Marie is heavily involved as the next generation moves in, this is no bad thing at all as she was named 'Young Winemaker of the Year' at the Hospices de Beaune in 2010 and she now represents the third generation of Jacquesons to be making wine here since her grandfather Henri started off in the 1950's with a small parcel of Aligoté.

They are making wines of impeccable quality, close indeed to their much more expensive cousins on the Côte d'Or. We have a particular fondness for the whites, and especially the Pucelle, which is a model of what a great Rully can be year after year. However, the reds too are on a charge and improve almost every year.
