Unmistakable nose of Chablis with wet pebbles up front, and some white flowers just a hint of lemon. This leads to a compact tightly-packed core of great lemon juice and an ever-present mineral streak that just pushes and pushes. Pure and sleek. Stunning 'Old school' styling that is joyous to taste, but this will need some time to really unravel. Crushed oyster shell and lemony kick continue on the long finish. Drinking range: 2021 - 2028 L&S (Oct 2018)

(from Tribut鈥檚 smallest parcel of only .23 ha situated in La For锚t). Moderate reduction renders the nose difficult to assess today. Otherwise there is a bit more refinement to the sleek, intense and energetic middle weight flavors that also brim with minerality on the precise and lingering finale. Note that this too is equally impressive and should also amply reward mid-term cellaring. 2024+ Rating: 90-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Oct 2018)

A parcel in lieu-dit Forets with a deeper top soils. Super flinty with gray stones and minerals here. There is also a super reductive, flinty grapefruit nose that delivers a lot of lime and green mangoes. Scintillating acidity and length. A super salty and mineral finish. Drink or hold. Rating: 95-96 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Aug 2018)

The deepest and most reserved of Tribut's wines, the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains unfurls in the glass with notes of struck match, lemon oil, white flowers and crushed chalk. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, blocky and concentrated, with excellent tension and cut, built around a tangy line of acidity that lends terrific drive to the finish. It will need the most time in bottle. Rating: 92-94 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Aug 2018)

Domaine Laurent Tribut

Laurent Tribut is married to Vincent Dauvissat's sister, Marie Clotilde. When he started he made his wines in the Dauvissat cellar in Chablis, but now this small family-run domaine is based in Poinchy. Laurent has now officially retired and has now handed over to three of their four children (Solange, Adeline and Gabriel), with Solange taking the lead in the winery. With Laurent鈥檚 guidance the future here looks very bright.

With just 6 hectares the quantities are small - but the quality of all the cuv茅es is extraordinary. Pure, powerfully driven, classically shaped there is more than a passing similarity to the wines of his brother-in-law, the head-line grabbing Vincent Dauvissat. Buyers will enjoy these long-lived wines with some time in bottle too - they have a great ability to age and patience will pay off, we recently tasted the 1er Cru C么te de L茅chet 2004 with Laurent in his cellar and it was bright, young and full of vigour - nearly 15 years on, and in 2020 the 2000 Beauroy was still in it鈥檚 prime. This is brilliant, classic Chablis.
