Following the Petite Chapelle this is on a totally different spectrum. A wilder nose jumps out of the glass. Dark fruit and toast. Again more brood here, reminiscent of the Corbeaux. Darker with an exciting ‘sauvage’ feel; jagged rock and mineral. Black berries and some damson notes are more compacted by mineral push and some earth, hawthorn and leafy elements. A mineral power which is epic, but will need time to mellow. Really impressive stuff. Drinking range: 2023 - 2032 L&S (Nov 2018)

(from a .33 ha of 50+ year old vines that abut Cazetiers; 60% stems). Reduction knocks down the nose but there is fine freshness and richness to the suave and seductively textured flavors that are generously proportioned while displaying both good tension and balance on the impressively persistent finish where a hint of wood appears. This mineral-driven beauty is firm but balanced and should amply repay extended cellaring, indeed it will need at least 6 to 8 years first and reward up to 15 or so. Drinking range: 2029 - Rating: 91-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com(Jan 2019)
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champeaux is one of the more reserved wines in the cellar, unfurling in the glass with notes of grilled meats, cherries, dark berries and rich soil tones. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with the density and fine-grained structure that is so typical of this premier cru, underpinned by succulent acids and concluding with a long, youthfully firm finish. This will be a prospect for sustained bottle age. Rating: 92-94 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate(Jan 2019)
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Champeaux 1er Cru matures in 80% new oak and is made with around 60% whole bunch fruit. It has one of the most floral bouquets from Dugat-Py, one that is almost Vosne-like in style - very intense and lethally seductive! The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, grippy tannin, good acidity and perhaps more freshness and tension on the finish than the domaine’s other Premier Crus. Good potential but as always it needs time. Drinking range: 2025 - 2045 Rating: 91-93 Neal Martin, vinous.com(Jan 2019)
Still a touch smokily reduced but it’s easy to see the fruit on the palate. Dark, savoury from the reduction but has dark fruit underneath. Very savoury at the moment. Firm, almost chalky, texture. Honest and chewy and packed with fruit. Embryonic. Drinking range: 2025 - 2035 Rating: 17 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com(Dec 2018)
