Mineral nose of pebbles and gravel. On the palate there is dense dark fruited juice. Full bodied and powerful, the polished tannins are noticeable and build towards the end. There is good acidity with the wine holding a high tone throughout. Shaping up nicely. Drinking range: 2025 - 2035 L&S (Apr 2019)

The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Boyd-Cantenac features smoked meats, dried herbs and savory aromas over baked berries and cassis with a pencil lead hint. Despite being right next door, this stands above sibling estate Pouget in 2018. It demonstrates excellent freshness, with sculpted dark fruits, good balance and a lift through the mid-palate. It's unquestionably broad-shouldered and serious in approach, and it works extremely well. Harvested 1-23 October. 6% Cabernet Franc makes up the blend.
