The 2018 Lanessan is deep garnet-purple colored with black cherries, cassis, mulberries and baked plums on the nose with herbs, earth and tea hints. From 45 hectares of vines comes this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. I sense notes of wild plum on the nose, with a chalky freshness, the wine showing a perfumed delicacy and freshness with scents of rose petals and tobacco-leaf perfume. The palate is pure, delicately poised, very elegant and silky, with notes of crushed red plum, cinnamon, red cherry stone and a rose garden perfume, all of which is wrapped up in a central core of fresh, polished and nicely judged tannins.
