The fruit may not be quite as explosive as on the Clos Vougeot, but this is all in suavity, all of a piece, compact and richly tannic, full of black fruit and firmness. Powerfully long. L&S (Oct 2019)

(from En Orveaux). A softly spicy nose speaks of purple fruit, floral and an appealing whiff of Asian style tea. There is a bit more mid-palate density to the medium-bodied flavors that combine good power with evident muscle on the firm, dusty, serious and youthfully austere finish. This will require at least some forbearance as it’s clearly constructed for the longer-term. Drinking range: 2033 - Rating: 93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Apr 2020)

The 2018 Echezeaux Grand Cru wafts from the glass with an exotic bouquet of cassis and cherries complemented by nuances of incense, burning embers, dark chocolate and rich loamy soil. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and enveloping, with fine concentration, ripe acids and a long, elegantly vanillin-inflected finish. This is a relatively new bottling for Boillot that debuted in the 2017 vintage. Drinking range: 2025 - 2045 Rating: 93 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2020)

Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
