This old vine Gevrey has more depth and breadth than the Nuits. Firmish redder fruit too, spiced plum and tarter cherry flesh add a feel of lift. Nicely spiced, but still quite a meaty Gevrey. Good bang for buck here. L&S (Nov 2019)

The rich, full-bodied and solidly concentrated flavors possess a suave and caressing mouthfeel while exhibiting better balance on the only mildly rustic finale. Mid crimson. Peppery, lightly spiced, a hint of stems perhaps. Definitely a herby freshness to the dark-red fruit. Dark and savoury on the palate, dark fruited and elegant. Domaine Faiveley
The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
