After the Pruliers this seems much more like it! Lovely restraint up front - but the fruit is there. More flesh, more polish - but no plumpness, no excess. Dark, sleek and just the finest, suede-like rub of grip and mineral scratch on the finish. Good stuff a very smart Nuits St Georges. L&S (Nov 2019)

This too is quite firmly reduced and nothing escapes the funk today. More interesting are the energetic medium-bodied flavors that are caressing yet focused with firm supporting tannins that are slightly grippy and chewy yet not so much that they cut the finish short though or render the finish unduly rustic. Drinking range: 2030 - Rating: 89-92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2020)
The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes reveals lovely aromas of wild berries, peonies and sweet forest floor, framed by a discrete application of new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and supple but precise, with fine tannins and a succulent core of crunchy berry fruit. This cool, high-altitude and northeast-exposed site has performed very well in this warm vintage. Rating: 91-93+ William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2020)
Barrel sample. Soft-rimmed cherry red. More fragrant than the Pruliers and less marked by the oak on the nose. The tannins are more silky too, but definite and sufficient, the fruit brighter. Drinking range: 2023 - 2030 Rating: 16.5 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Dec 2019)
