The 2019 Monbousquet has an expressive nose with ebullient black cherries, blueberry, violet and iris flower. The palate is medium-bodied with mineral-rich black fruit, lovely balance and elegant with a precise and persistent finish. This bottle surpasses the one tasted at the property after bottling last year. Superb. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Drinking range: 2025 - 2048 Rating: 92 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Feb 2023)

Lots of crushed-stone and graphite aromas with dark fruit and walnuts. Full-bodied, yet tight and polished, with a very juicy structure and a long, linear finish. Shows finesse and focus. 60% merlot, 30% cabernet franc and 10% cabernet sauvignon. Drinking range: 2024 - Rating: 95 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Feb 2022)

The 2019 Monbousquet is packed with blackberry jam, espresso, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and graphite. Dark and quite deep, yet with brooding intensity, the 2019 has a ton to offer. Give it a few years to soften. Today, the tannins and overall structure are pretty imposing for a Saint-Émilion that has been much more forthcoming in the past. Drinking range: 2024 - 2034 Rating: 92 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Feb 2022)

The 2019 Monbousquet remains deep in color. The bouquet is opulent and generous, featuring macerated black cherries, cassis and violet and a drop of balsamic in the background. Finely delineated, though it just misses a bit of charm. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, the new oak quite conspicuous and leaving some unwanted wood tannins on the back palate. Still grippy on the finish, this Monbousquet needs to meld together in bottle. It feels a bit tough at the moment. Drinking range: 2025 - 2045 Rating: 90 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Feb 2022)
