Rich and round and fruit-dense. But elegant and there's suave length too. A big friendly bloke of a wine, ripely smiling but rippling muscles too. Drinking range: 2030 - 2045 L&S (Oct 2020)

Supplemented by old vines formerly belonging to Domaine Newman that happen to be adjacent to Dugat-Py's parcel, the 2019 Pommard La Levrière unwinds in the glass with aromas of dark berries, woodsmoke, rich soil tones, espresso roast and spices. Medium to full-bodied, muscular and layered, it's deep and concentrated, framed by velvety tannins and lively acids. Rating: 90-92 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

Domaine Dugat-Py
Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.
