(from 25+ year old vines). A markedly more floral nose slowly reveals its aromas of cool and very pure red currant and spiced plum scents. The medium-bodied flavors possess a simply gorgeous mouthfeel along with fine detail before concluding in a mineral-driven and youthfully austere finale. This is firm enough to reward up to a decade of cellaring yet not so firm as to be unapproachable young if desired. Drinking range: 2027 - Rating: 92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Apr 2021)

The 2019 Volnay Chevrets 1er Cru has a more backward nose compared to the Fremiets, darker fruit with a pastille-like quality. The palate is well balanced with sappy red berry fruit, fine acidity with that pastille leitmotif returning on the elegant and pure finish. This Volnay is refined and approachable, but I suspect it has the legs to give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure. Drinking range: 2023 - 2040 Rating: 91-93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2021)

The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets offers up aromas of plums, cassis, orange rind, petals and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, lively and nicely concentrated, it's bright and fine-boned, concluding with a long finish. Produced from almost 60-year-old vines, this is a long-time fixture of the range. Drinking range: 2022 - 2045 Rating: 92 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
