Though showing less color than most of the other 2020 reds, this certainly wasn't wanting in character. Starting with strawberry compote and raspberry preserves with a light sprinkle of sweet spice, the nose dazzles. Rose petals add to the palate, where well-placed acidity stands beside distinguished, streamlined tannins to form a nice, age-worthy structure. Jérôme Flous says that Bernard Hervet, former CEO of Domaine Faiveley, always pointed out how well this wine aged and that he was absolutely right. Drinking range: 2022 - 2035 Rating: 94 Christy Canterbury MW - TimAtkin.com (Feb 2022)

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes is perfumed and elegant, soaring from the glass with scents of roses, peonies, orange rind and sweet red berries. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and sensual, with melting tannins, succulent acids and a saline finish, it's one of the most ethereal wines in the range. Rating: 92-94 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2022)

Classic ruby color. Bright and fresh aromas of red pinot fruit are liberally laced with plenty of floral and spice wisps. The delicious, rich and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess an opulent mid-palate that contrasts somewhat with the firm, clean, dry, youthfully austere and mildly warm finale. Drinking range: 2030 - Rating: 90-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2022)

Cask sample. Mid to light crimson. Initial oaky sweetness, then scented red fruit. Quite firm extraction seems to have given a little bitterness on the finish, though the tannins are fine-grained and smooth. A little tart on the finish, though no lack of freshness. Drinking range: 2024 - 2030 Rating: 16 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2022)
