Made by Pierre and Nicolas Seillan, this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is from 50 to 60 years old vines and composed of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on clay-limestone soils. A classic Saint Emilion - a mouth full of a cushion of ripe fruit and fine velety tannins, but there's more too, as there's a coherent shape and a fine grip that makes it interesting and the freshness that keeps the whole thing harmonious. The 2020 Lassègue has a pure red cherry and raspberry scented bouquet, quite polished with a discrete savory background. The palate is sweet and plush on the entry, then it pulls everything back towards the detailed, marmalade-tinged mid-palate and a well-defined, lightly spiced finish that has just the right amount of sapidity.
