A swirl of black cherry, strawberry and plum – the aromatics having tone, but a real depth this year. There is a quintessential, if anything even more pronounced, provencal herb quality to the ’21, which also exhibits some subtle saddle leather and earthy notes. Domaine Tempier is an old family estate, owned by the Peyrauds since Lucien Peyraud married Lucie Tempier in 1936. The family was largely instrumental in getting the appellation of Bandol established in 1941. The reds are the quintessential expression of Mourvèdre, grown on terraced vineyards on steep hills around the 'plan du Castellet'.
Traditional vinification using indigenous yeasts, the wines are aged in a variety of different sized oak (25 to 75hl) for between 18 and 20 months. These are wines which are capable of long ageing, but even young they have a finesse of fruit and earthy flavour, coupled with fine-grained tannins, which lift them above the generality of Provençal reds.

This roll-call of the world's most respected producers begins with the cult hero 2020 Château des Tours, a fleshy and elegant Côtes du Rhône produced by the legendary Emmanuel Reynaud of Château Rayas fame. For the white wine lover, we include the 2022 Domaine Laurent Tribut Chablis, a classic wine from the brother-in-law of Vincent Dauvissat, and the 2022 Bodega Chacra Mainqué Chardonnay, a Patagonian masterpiece made in collaboration with Burgundy legend Jean-Marc Roulot.
The collection continues with the 2021 Domaine Tempier Cuvée Classique, the quintessential expression of Bandol Mourvèdre, and the massive, incredibly concentrated 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Les Hauts Lieux' from Domaine de la Vieille Julienne, which was awarded 98+ points. Finally, to celebrate, we have included the Eric Rodez Cuvée des Crayères, a Grand Cru Champagne from a winemaker who learned his craft as an oenologist at Krug.
