(70 Merlot, 25 Cabernet Franc, 5 Cabernet Sauvignon | 30% new oak | 13.75% alc | 3.54 pH | 34 hl/ha | Production is 51000 bottles | Harvested between the 30th September and 18th October/20 A confident and silky Bellefont-Belcier with a lovely floral bouquet, this is a fantastic wine and one with silky fruit, excellent complexity, a slender mid-palate and a long, well-organised finish. The tannins are bright and refreshing, and the overall impression is of a magical creation that is not too rushed or trying too hard, and it is all the better for this relaxed state of mind and admirable self-control. I tasted several wines twice and a number of them three times, and when I encountered this wine at the Château, it was even finer and more transcendentally appealing than I had seen previously. Takes its time, not pushing too hard, attractive construction that is gentle but with depth, coiled raspberry and redcurrant fruit that you can see will offer juicy drinking within a few years of bottling. Definitely works with the vintage not against it, and is successful. Drinking range: 2026 - 2040 Rating: 93 Jane Anson, www.janeanson.com (May 2022)

A racy and refined Bellefont with stone, chalk and salty character. Wet earth and green olives, too. Medium to full body with a core of pretty fruit and solid tannins that are fine and polished. Rating: 93-94 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (May 2022)

Spared by the April frosts, the 2021 Bellefont Belcier has turned out brilliantly, exhibiting aromas of sweet berries and cherries mingled with hints of orange zest and violets, framed by a deft touch of oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, it's deep and elegant, with refined tannins, fine concentration and a penetrating finish. Impressively, this 2021 appears to surpass the estate's 2018 in quality! Rating: 92-94 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (May 2022)
