A juicy and earthy red with rich soil aromas and flavors. Medium to full body with ripe and round tannins and a slightly chewy finish. The team at La Gurgue has spent a lot of time improving the soils in recent years at this estate, and this has been skillfully put together by technical director Gerard Fenouillet. Redcurrant and raspberry leaf aromatics, fresh acidites that they turn into a lean-feeling expression of atumnal berry fruits through the body of the wine, and the focus overall is on brightness and lift. A charming wine derived from vineyards in the commune of Sousans characterized by deep, rather sandy gravels, the 2021 La Gurgue delivers aromas of sweet dark berries and plums, followed by a medium-bodied, supple and fleshy palate that's charming and open-knit.
