(from a 1.29 ha parcel). Generous wood again challenges the fruit but not the spice on the nose of red currant, dark cherry and that interesting humus-tinged earth/forest floor character. There is better volume and solid power to the rich and voluminous flavors that possess a sappy mid-palate where the dry extract also serves to buffer the firm tannic spine shaping the linger, balanced and ever-so-mildly austere finale. Mid crimson purple. There is power on the nose though still with the softness of fruit. The various berries expand on the palate through to a classy finish, the fruit entirely covering the structure. Domaine Faiveley
The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côte de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
