La Copa 'Extra Seco' Extra Dry Gonzalez Byass
With their 'La Copa', González Byass has revived the tradition of producing a vermouth using original recipes from their historic archives dating back to 1896. La Copa was one of the first brands registered by González Byass in 1884. The 'Extra Seco' is made with a base of Fino sherry blended with a selection of classic botanicals including Wormwood, Cinnamon and Cloves this extra dry Vermouth is a brilliant aperitif on its own over ice with soda, but also works fantastically as part of a great Martini. In 1835, a young man called Manuel María González Angel arrived in Jerez, intent on making a name for himself in the thriving and lucrative sherry business. Encouraged by the consistent growth in exports, that same year he purchased a small winery and began to produce and export his own wines. This was the start of Bodegas Tío Pepe which, due to the firm’s increasing success, became the González Byass company soon afterwards. Today, Bodegas Tío Pepe is known around the world as one of the leading producers of sherry and Brandy de Jerez.
