A greenish cast to the colour, which makes the initial obvious ripeness more surprising, but then a brilliant tension and length - gorgeous. Little sign of the '30-50%' new wood.

A 'quiet' gentle nose with a scent not unlike oatmeal. More refined that the Narvaux, it's all about tension and length, with a very citrussy acidity giving prodigious length.

As so often, the Poruzots is tightly-packed and dense and powerful. Hard to read in its youth, but in the end it always finds the same level of expressiveness as the other Premiers Crus.

A sweet edge to the attack here, juice like the Luraule follows, and here there's more power and mineral intensity. Sherbety, mineral, sleek and long.

Just as much as the Poruzot is compact at this stage, the Genevrières is almost opulent, generous and suave, even showy. Punch and power on the finish.
