South-west of the city of Beaune, between Volnay and Santenay in the Côte de Beaune, are a trio of villages - Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet and Meursault - where the almost monoculture of Pinot Noir in the rest of the Côte d’Or gives way to rows of Chardonnay and white wines rule supreme.
