An earthy, smoky note leads off, underscored by black currant, blackberry, violet and graphite flavors. Supple, yet dense, with a firm grip on the finish. Drinking range: 2023 - 2042 Rating: 94 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Feb 2019)

Cask sample. Winemaker Jérôme Flous particularly likes this wine. Mid crimson. Slightly reductive on the nose – a touch smoky. Darker fruit character too, tight and dry on the palate. Elegant but not especially long. Rather abrupt on the finish. (JH) Drinking range: 2021 - 2026 Rating: 16.5+ Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Feb 2018)

Bright dark red. Reduced on the nose. Then silky, penetrating and classically dry on the palate, conveying an impression of medicinal reserve to its flavors of black fruits, smoke and minerals. The serious, granular tannins reach the front teeth. Very tactile wine but a bit youthfully stunted. Rating: 91-93 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2018)

(from a huge 3.96 ha parcel). Reduction and wood currently overshadow the underlying fruit. There is first-rate intensity and power to the concentrated broad-shouldered flavors that possess a velvet-textured mid-palate while delivering outstanding length on the balanced and only mildly rustic finale. If this can add even more depth it could very well merit the upper end of my predicted range. In sum, this is a classic example and as such, it’s very much destined for a long snooze in a cold cellar. Drinking range: 2033 - Rating: 92-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2018)

Domaine Faiveley

The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
