The 2016 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a detailed, mineral-driven bouquet with precise red fruit intermingling with sous-bois and light rose petal aromas. This is a killer combination of power and finesse. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins and a perfectly judged bead of acidity. Silky in texture, it fans out with marvelous precision towards the finish. The oak is seamlessly integrated. A fabulous wine from start to finish. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. Drinking range: 2023 - 2055 Rating: 97 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Oct 2019)

Marked by oak spice, this is nonetheless an elegant style, featuring floral, wild strawberry and cherry aromas and flavors. Sleek and firm, showing tension, picking up a mineral element as this stretches out on the finish. Drinking range: 2024 - 2050 Rating: 97 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Feb 2019)
Cask sample. Light to mid cherry red. Lots of pepper and spice on the nose. Lifted and fragrant. Super-fine texture and quite a bit of oak flavour but the fruit intensity is very good – more in its persistence than in its depth. Very long. Chewy, scented and fresh. Drinking range: 2026 - 2036 Rating: 18 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Feb 2018)
(60% new oak): Dark red with ruby highlights. Complex, inviting aromas of black raspberry, peony, toast, smoke and game. Compellingly rich, creamy wine with a captivating mixture of dark berries, flowers and toasty oak. Maintains its thickness and body straight through to the very ripe, long, suavely tannic finish. A beauty. Rating: 93-95 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2018)
