(from two parcels that total .866 ha in Le Rognet and Le Corton). Enough wood to merit mentioning sets off the overtly floral and citrus-suffused aromas that include notes of mineral reduction and quinine. The dense, intense and very serious broad-shouldered flavors are akin to rolling small rocks around the mouth before culminating in a driving and gorgeously complex finish that goes on and on. The Bâtard and BBM are both very good but there is another dimension of depth present here. Drinking range: 2029 - Rating: 93-95 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jun 2019)

Two out of the fifteen barrels of the 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru derive, for the first time, from white vines planted at the top of Faiveley's famous Clos des Cortons, and the ensuing wine is certainly superb, offering up notes of citrus zest, white flowers and crushed chalk. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, taut and strikingly incisive, with a deep core and a long, searingly mineral finish. This will be well worth seeking out. Rating: 93-95 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2019)

The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru comes from a single parcel on the Ladoix side of the hill, the last parcel one faces toward the east. It has an attractive bouquet of lemon curd, yeast and orange peel that gains intensity with aeration. The palate is fresh on the entry, with touches of apricot and quince, a fine bead of acidity and good weight on the finish. This is a classy Corton-Charlemagne that should offer at least 12 to 15 years of drinking pleasure. Drinking range: 2020 - 2035 Rating: 91-93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2019)

Slightly cloudy barrel sample. Ripe citrus and spice. Big and so primary, you could almost be tasting the grapes. Spicy and so creamy on the palate it is almost thick. But the acidity is high. Not meshed yet but the components seem balanced. Drinking range: 2027 - 2040 Rating: 18++ Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Dec 2018)
