The 2018 Corton Clos des Cortons Grand Cru is marred by a touch of TCA on the nose, which is a pity because you can discern attractive seaweed-tinged dark berry fruit beneath. The palate is well balanced and one of the more elegant examples in the flight. But I cannot rate this. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting. Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Nov 2022)

Wow. This is a solid Corton with ripe strawberries, plums, bark and porcini. Full-bodied with tight, fine tannins, focused depth of fruit and excellent length. Quite muscular for the vintage. Better after 2023. Rating: 96 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Aug 2020)

Moderate wood and menthol influences frame the intensely earthy and gamy aromas of both red and dark currant. There is excellent energy to the stony medium weight plus flavors that are at once succulent yet powerful where the latter carries over to the serious, firmly structured and mildly warm finish that goes on and on. This somewhat rustic effort is very Corton in basic character and a wine that’s going to require patience. Drinking range: 2040 - Rating: 93-95 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2020)

Aromas of wild berries, dark chocolate, grilled squab, warm spices and forest floor introduce the 2018 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Cortons Faiveley, a medium to full-bodied, youthfully reserved wine that's deep, lively and concentrated, concluding with a long and beautifully defined finish. This is another terrific rendition of Faiveley's emblematic grand cru in the making. Rating: 93-95+ William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2020)

Domaine Faiveley

The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
