Initially almost as supple and charming as the Charmes, this is as broad and full as the Mazoyères, and has astonishing intensity - a mineral hit which is so strong that it becomes almost painful to hold in the mouth - like the others the finish seems almost endless. L&S (Nov 2021)

Deep and brooding, the 2020 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru mingles aromas of blackberries and cassis with notions of peonies, potpourri, sweet soil tones and exotic spices. Full-bodied, layered and tightly wound, it's vibrant and immensely concentrated, its bottomless core of fruit framed by fine, powdery tannins and racy acids. Concluding with a long, resonant finish, this will, as usual, require the most patience of all Dugat-Py's wines, but the rewards at maturity will be spectacular. (from .25 ha parcel of 60+ year old vines planted at a density of 14,000/ha in Mazis-Bas – vinified with 90% stems). Here the broad-ranging nose reflects notes of the sauvage, black cherry, raspberry, earth and a wisp of old leather. There is again outstanding density to the equally large-scaled flavors that possess a highly appealing texture before culminating in a dusty, hugely long, youthfully austere and compact finale. Domaine Dugat-Py
Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.
