A rare ten year old Fino, taken from the very small number of barrels still retaining a thin veil of Flor after a decade of aging. This really is on the cusp of still being a Fino, and moving really into Amontillado territory, and yet the wine still retains some of the freshness and lighter body of a Fino. A sort of near sweetness of concentration, lovely texture and density. Very pure, and lovely succulence as well. L&S (Nov 2012)

This wine comes from the Solera Fino-Amontillado. Ten years old. Few casks at this age are still Flor covered due to a lack of nutrients. There are some rare casks that still are covered by a thin veil of flor that continues to imbue the wine with ‘fino characteristics’. Very rare. Gonzalez Byass
In 1835, a young man called Manuel María González Angel arrived in Jerez, intent on making a name for himself in the thriving and lucrative sherry business. Encouraged by the consistent growth in exports, that same year he purchased a small winery and began to produce and export his own wines. This was the start of Bodegas Tío Pepe which, due to the firm’s increasing success, became the González Byass company soon afterwards. Today, Bodegas Tío Pepe is known around the world as one of the leading producers of sherry and Brandy de Jerez.
