VOSNE ROMANÉE

2016 Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru Beaux Monts Christophe Perrot-Minot

EN PRIMEUR

Pure, delicious and elegant. More fruit ripeness and weight in the middle stands out here, but there is super power through the core. Fine and delicious. Yet so sublimely intense. Pretty but not meek. Stony, saline finish adds a dusting of grip, quite delicious. This comes from vines on the coteaux of Vosne Romanée, on the right hand side near Cros Parantoux of Rouget.L&S (Oct 2017)

A tight, densely constructed red, this reveals sandalwood, incense, cinnamon and vanilla accents surrounding the core of cherry and raspberry fruit. Drinking range: 2021 - 2035 Rating: 94 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Mar 2019)

Bright, dark red. Ripe but reticent aromas of dark cherry, red licorice, menthol and minerals, plus a whiff of fruity dark chocolate. Broad, dry and youthfully imploded, with crushed-rock calcaire minerality giving the middle palate a seriously taut quality. There's something cool and medicinal about this very intense wine, which shows absolutely no easy sweetness in the early going. Finishes very long, dry and classic, with a fine dusting of tannins. Rating: 92-94 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2018)

(from a .49 ha parcel). Reduction masks everything except a hint of spice. Otherwise there is a beguiling vivacity to the rich, elegant and impressively refined middle weight flavors that display impeccable balance on the mineral-driven and utterly delicious finish. This is a stunner of a Beaux Monts that possesses a classy mouthfeel on the chiseled backend though once again at least some patience is advised as the mid-palate is quite tightly wound. Drinking range: 2028 - Rating: 91-94 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2018)

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts Vieilles Vignes has a deep and quite sensual bouquet: cranberry and crushed strawberry, undergrowth and orange pith aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, slightly chalky in texture and lending tension. This leans more toward red than black fruit, displaying fine salinité on the finish. This has very good potential. Drinking range: 2021 - 2033 Rating: 91-93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Dec 2017)

This has vibrant ripe red fruits and is fresh...very juicy with smooth tannins. There is a refined quality to this Beaux Monts, delicate almost and silky. Sweet summer fruits, aromatic and a refined salty finish. I like this Beaux Monts very much. Drinking range: 2022 - Rating: 18.75 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Nov 2017)

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
