2011 Grand Cru Domaine Faiveley
|Sub-district||Côte de Nuits|
Black fruits enrich the nose and the palate has depth of flavour. The fruit feels ripe the sweetness enriching the mid palate and giving a fleshiness at the back. There is an underlying freshness that balances and gives complexity. 2015-24 Rating: 93 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk (Dec 2013)
*Case price discount: Mix any 12 bottles (or 9l equivalent) of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.
Sourced from a single parcel in the lieu dit of En Orveaux, this is a smart wine that’s given the appropriate amount of new oak (70%). It’s very vivid, almost energetic, with plush, yet focused flavours of Asian spices, fresh raspberries, redcurrants and pomegranate-like acidity. 2016-25 Rating: 96 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com(Jan 2013)
The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
