A new cuvée for 2014, a little higher up than the Vieilles Vignes. Thirty to forty centimetres of white quartz sand on the granite bedrock. Rich fruit nose, sweetness and density on the entry, juicy, almost salty lift too. Long, pretty, elegant finish filled with fruit. Drinking range: 2017 - L&S (Nov 2015)

Once again reduction dominates the nose. There is fine intensity to the rich and voluminous flavors that possess both good vibrancy and power before culminating in a moderately austere and impressively persistent finish. Note that this is going to require at least 5 to 7 years of cellaring first. Drinking range: - 2022 Rating: 89-92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2016)

The maiden 2014 Moulin à Vent les Perrelles is located on quartz and white sand soils, on a south-facing slope planted at 14,000 vines per hectare. Despite some reduction, there is a crisp, granitic red berry bouquet that is nicely detailed. The palate is citrus fresh on the entry with fine tannin and joyful, tart red cherry fruit, and then it turns very structured towards the finish. Very fine -- a Beaujolais with ageing potential. Drinking range: 2017 - 2027 Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Dec 2015)

Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair, Beaujolais

Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair have purchased eight prime parcels of vines in Moulin-a-Vent. The grapes were sold off in 2008 because they felt it took more than just one year working with the vines to get them to perform. 'My objective was not to buy a domaine, but to buy vineyards in different spots. What is very important for me', says Liger-Belair,'is to showcase the difference between each type of granite and each exposure.' Two refrigerated trucks a day delivered fruit to be pressed in Nuits-Saint-Georges (all destemmed in the 2009 vintage and only gently pumped over to 'infuse', never punched down) and raised in used barriques.
