This was the final wine in the run at our Faiveley tasting and it provided a fabulous finish. A little more taut then many of the wines in the run. A good, gentle scrub of tannin underscores a really attractive red berried compote of joy. Quite lithe and sophisticated but there is no denying the easy charm of the fruit at the core here. L&S (Nov 2021)

This aromatic red reveals rose, sandalwood, cherry and spice aromas and flavors, allied to a silky texture. Elegant and juicy, with terrific balance and a superlong, mineral-tinged finish. So polished and stylish, you could enjoy this now, but it will improve over time. ('Hot Wines') Drinking range: 2026 - 2045 Rating: 96 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Feb 2023)

This has a brash nose with minerals, North African spices, wild fruits and rose buds. Smooth on the attack, the palate continues the caressing feel with creamy tannins and light extract. This is a highly accessible and thoroughly refined Corton. This is found on the Ladoix side and within Corton Rognets GC. Drinking range: 2023 - 2040 Rating: 95 Christy Canterbury MW - TimAtkin.com (Feb 2022)

Mingling deep fruit tones evocative of red cherries and plums with notions of loamy soil, licorice, orange rind, rose petals and sweet spices, the 2020 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Cortons Faiveley is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, tangy acids and a long, saline finish. This is extremely promising. Rating: 94-96 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2022)

Domaine Faiveley

The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
