Tempranillo

Spain’s best red grape variety, the major component of Rioja and Ribera del Duero, where it is usually the major partner in a blend with Garnacha or Cariñena. The name is derived from the Spanish ‘temprano’ (‘early’) referring to its early ripening. Grown in Portugal where it is usually known as either Aragonez or Tinta Roriz.
