This all pretty accurately sums up the UK trade's thoughts about 2025 Bordeaux en Primeur. But at least the sun has shone during the tasting week and tasters have been upbeat about what they have tasted, and the German 'Falstaff' magazine has come out all guns blazing on the positive side: "Prices for this superb vintage will be slightly higher than the affordable previous year, and this should make them a sound investment. Unlike so often in the last decade, a price increase is foreseeable when the vintage hits the market in 2028, and so one can once again recommend buying on subscription with a clear conscience." This seems optimistic to us, but at least there can be said to be a ray of sunshine.

We also said last year that we expected some big releases early on ('even in the last days of April') as the Châteaux were saying that there was little point in waiting, and this year it is the same and we have already been given a timetable for some.
