Very juicy and richly textured in the mouth with a little more apple and pear freshness. In fact the acidity is lower this year (with a pH of 3.2), but the level of malic acid is higher creating the perception of more, and certainly crisper, acidity. Some chalky phenolics on the finish with great length and poise. A real success and with higher yields than normal - for once rain saved the day. Rating: 93 Rod Smith MW, www.timatkin.com (Apr 2025)

The perfect balance between Sauvignon tanginess and mid-palate Semillon plushness is simply stunning. This glittering jewel is a phenomenal example of a spectacular ‘second wine’. This ‘chip off the SHL block’ will drink early and possess the ability to age like clockwork. It is lighter and more dynamic at this stage than the Grand Vin, so this is the elite pick for at least the next five years while SHL Blanc enjoys its slumber. 18.5/20 QP Rating: 18.5 Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com (May 2025)
