Thankfully, it did not destroy all of the vintage, and they managed to bring in perfectly fit fruit come harvest time, albeit with tiny Cabernet berries. Bright, superbly energetic and open, this is an expressive wine with crisp and alert tannins. The mid-palate is currently where the action sits, offering opulence and also grace. There is more tannin than usual on the finish, interlaced with the fruit notes and perfectly balanced. This is a sensational result from what must have been a very stressful and challenging vintage. The 2022 Clos Manou Cuvée 1850, which is aged two-thirds in Wine Globe and the rest in wood, has a delightful bouquet with blackberry, briary, iris flower and lavender scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a lightly peppered opening, pretty saline, fine acidity and depth. Something almost medicinal toward the finish oddly reminds me of a Mourvèdre!
