The palate is medium-bodied with firm, quite edgy tannins on the entry, and graphite-infused black fruit dominates. Earthy and classic in style toward the conclusion. This is a decent, traditional Haut-Médoc, though it needs to fill out on the finish. Drinking range: 2026 - 2040 Rating: 87-89 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (May 2021)

It has a clean, pure black currant and blueberry nose, a little more opulent than usual, but well defined and demonstrating a bit more fruité, which it has occasionally lacked in some vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, and quite saline on the entry, with touches of black olive infusing the black fruit. A midweight with a lively, classically fashioned finish, this is a very commendable Potensac that should give 12–15 years of pleasure, but warrants 3–4 years in a cool, damp cellar. While this will be a nicely balanced wine, given time, it seems a little pinched right now, however, I have every confidence that the pure Cabernet fruit will keep it on the right path. Their new Air-Pump's soft extraction is evident, a great tool in a vintage like this. No hard edges, no really dark notes, but certainly has some 'classic' claret lines and the fine grippy feel of the vintage. Core of fruit is good though with plum flesh and nice spice. Red fruit lifts the darker shadows. Lots of crisper firmer notes too of hedgerow berries. Pert and no excess. Just a really smart, uplifting feel. Tannins are fresh and chalky but ‘just-enough’. The team here compare 2020 to 2010 - but with more complexity. A very successful Cantemerle. One not to miss for the cellar. L&S (May 2021)

Gravel on Clay/Clay on a Chalk slab that is over 1m thick provides ample water storage when the going gets tough, similar to good spots on the right bank. This is where Merlot thrives and so it is not surprising it makes up almost half of this blend. Immediately there is a good feel to this. Polished - full - but not heavy. Great flow. Very nice aromatics - little bit of bright acidity keeps the drive forward, but also adds an upright feel to what could become quite serious and intense. Peppy berry-fruit, but with charm of ripeness too and ample grip - well balanced for the future. L&S (May 2021)

Aromatic and nicely floral on the nose, red fruits here but soon turns quite dark and serious. Attractive shape and feel overall, but really quite intense with a dark fruit line at the core. Lovely polished tannins don't completely hide the firm frame. Finishes with an admirably 'Trad' feel and flow. Very good.
The hot and dry summer means that the 2020 harvest is smaller than 2019 by 10-15%. a much repeated story this year. However, the La Lagune team are really pleased with how the vines coped with the drought and put their resilience down to the organic farming that has been practiced here for years.

The clayey limestone and the clayey gravels provided the grapes with freshness despite the hot, dry summer weather. The Cabernet Sauvignon gave a concentrated wine due to the small size of the berries. The Merlots kept a certain juicyness while the alcohol reasonable. The low yields have the consequence of offering a concentrated and very delicious 2020 Château Fourcas Dupré! In the Grand Vin blend, we have decided to put the Cabernets in the spotlight: their concentration, their aromatic expression gives a seductive gourmand. Pretty Merlots complete the palate with a rare juiciness. The wine (still in aging) presents itself very well, with a very open nose of very red berries. Ripe. Between the blackberry and the blackcurrant, we find the first spicy notes of the wood which enhance the fruity freshness. In the mouth, the texture of the fruit emerges very quickly with notes of cherry and raspberry. The wine is dense and silky. The finish is long; we find a persistent flavour that gives a juicy side to the wine.Winemaker's notes (Apr 2021)
