Well it's (nearly) that time of year again. Early news suggests that this really is a top-drawer vintage, but there are also reasons to believe that it may not be quite such a homogeneous success as either 2009 or 2010. In essence the issue is that some rain fell in September and early October before the harvest.

The tennis has started just down the road in SW19 and brought the hot weather with it! How long it lasts is another question, but surely long enough to enjoy a mixed case of our summer favorites? We've selected 6 of our favorite summer wines into this mixed case including 2 bottles of each of our ever popular MiP rosé, it's slightly more devilish brother Petit Diables, plus our two new excellent Spanish whites; the wonderfully refreshing Camina Chardonnay from La Mancha and our bright and lifted Luna Creciente Albariño, both of which offer an alternative, but equally refreshing experience to rosé on a hot summer's day.

This morning – where France is not on holiday – the 2014 releases continue. The big one is Château Talbot 2014 (£290). We liked the wine, although the balance of all notes suggests a wine that maybe quite a firm style.
