50th Anniversary? – or just great Port. Taylor’s, aided somewhat by the purchase in 2013 of Wiese & Krohn who had been specialists in tawny Port, hold larger stocks of old wood aged Port than any other producer.
Tio Pepe Fino 'En Rama' – Limited Release Offer Last weekend I saw my first swallows of the season, but heeding Aristotle’s wise words I did not want to get over excited about summer’s arrival.
For west Londoners tonight is Barnes Late Night Shopping evening, when the High Street will be buzzing and as usual the best mulled wine will be at Lea & Sandeman - come on down and enjoy the festive atmosphere - it's only going to be raining lightly, which, if this morning is anything to go, by means unnoticeably, especially if you have some of our famous mulled wine inside you.
The theme, such as you need a theme beyond ‘Christmas’, was to put a few less likely wines in front of people, to test and tantalize the taste-buds. We are delighted to offer the third release of Gonzalez Byass’ rare and delicious Palmas range of sherries. These are here and ready for immediate despatch. Since the 1880s Gonzalez Byass has used the Palmas system to classify its highest quality Finos.
“Every single bottle of these rare old Finos is stamped with its’ bottling date – and a sentence advising drinking up within 6 months…
So we did what we do best – we opened some of them up to see how they were. Quite simply – we were very pleased! This is fascinating stuff.”

The ‘en rama’ phenomenon was started by Gonzalez Byass, who released their first Tio Pepe ‘En Rama’ sherry in celebration of their 175th birthday. It caused a sensation and has been released every year since.
“…these are truly wonderful Vintage Ports that will reward extended cellaring. Declarations are, more often than not, promises that are kept…” Neil Martin, www.
2011 Vintage Port - General Declaration of a Classic Vintage Port vintages are only 'declared' by the shippers/producers when the quality is deemed to be on the very best, and often they do not agree. The 2011 has brought a unanimity seldom seen, and as Jancis Robinson titled her article these are 'The best 2011 reds anywhere'.
